Get to Know Belinda Valdez, an Employee Donor
Many employees of St. John’s Hospitals participate in St. John’s Healthcare Foundation’s annual employee giving campaign. These employees generously support a variety of hospital and community health outreach programs by making cash gifts, donating hours from their PTO bank or signing up for recurring donations via payroll deduction.
We are pleased to introduce you to Belinda Valdez, RN. Belinda is a Clinical Education Coordinator at St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
How long have you worked for St. John’s Hospitals? What led you to join our ministry?
I moved to Ventura County from wintery Edmonton, Canada, in 2003. I still go back to visit my family but I love the weather here. My husband and my two children have planted their roots here as well, and are enjoying the company of our extended family and friends. I joined our ministry because of St. John’s dedication to providing high quality care to all its patients and its mission to help the community at large.
When did you start participating in employee giving at St. John’s Hospitals and what motivated you to give?
I started participating in employee giving in 2018 in appreciation of the opportunities that St. John’s has given me throughout the years. I started my career at St. John’s on the Telemetry floor (2 South), transferred to the Critical Care Unit (CCU), became the manager of the CCU and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and then moved on to become a Clinical Education Coordinator. In addition, St. John’s continues to support my goal to be a life-long learner. In 2022, I completed my Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) with the help of the tuition reimbursement program and support of my colleagues. Participating in employee giving is my way of expressing my gratitude to the organization.
