Get to Know Ruth Kistler, an Employee Donor
Many employees of St. John’s Hospitals participate in St. John’s Healthcare Foundation’s annual employee giving campaign. These employees generously support a variety of hospital and community health outreach programs by making cash gifts, donating hours from their PTO bank or signing up for recurring donations via payroll deduction.
We are pleased to introduce you to Ruth Kistler. Ruth is the Supervisor of Therapy Services at St. John’s Hospital Camarillo.
How long have you worked for St. John’s Hospitals? What led you to join our ministry?
I have worked for St. John’s Hospital Camarillo for 28 years. I started as a travelling Occupational Therapist (OT) in March 1994 and accepted a full-time position in October of that year. I have always enjoyed my work as an OT, trying to make a difference for our patients.
I have always believed in St. John’s mission to help anyone in need. I feel that everyone deserves access to quality health care regardless of race, socioeconomic status, religion, or sexual orientation. As an organization, we strive to provide exceptional health care. I am proud to be a part of this organization.
When did you start participating in employee giving at St. John’s Hospitals and what motivated you to give?
I started giving to the Foundation a couple years ago through payroll deduction. It is a great way for me to give back to the community. I donate to help those in need, who are less fortunate, and have less resources. We all serve in different ways and each of us contributes differently. We are in this together, and collectively we can make a difference in our own communities.
