Dignity Health’s St. John’s Regional Medical Center Completes Maternity Center Expansion Project

OXNARD, CA – July 27, 2021 – St. John's Regional Medical Center, a member of Dignity Health, is pleased to announce the completion of its newly expanded Maternity Center, which includes a new conveniently located entrance for all maternity services. This milestone marks the completion of the hospital's expansion and modernization project.
The expanded Maternity Center features a new private entrance (off Williams Drive), a dedicated lobby and waiting room, two new private and a shared triage rooms, and four new labor and delivery rooms.

The new private entrance and reconfigured center mitigate the need for pregnant women to enter through the Emergency Department for maternity services. The dedicated access conveniently connects to maternity registration, triage, labor and delivery, the mother-infant unit, lactation services, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
As part of the Maternity Center expansion, SJRMC also opened the doors to the first all-private room, Level III NICU in Ventura County in September 2020. The new family-centered unit features 20 private rooms, allowing a parent to stay overnight with their newborn. The unit exceeds the hospital's previous NICU size, which included two open layout rooms that grouped patients into eight-bed pods. The new space has two isolation rooms, rooms that adjoin to accommodate twins, and a family lounge with a kitchenette and shower to ensure the parents' comfort.
The Maternity Center at SJRMC offers a loving start for every baby and loving care for every mom. Our private labor and delivery and recovery suites are equipped with advanced equipment to ensure the safety of the mother and baby. SJRMC has obstetricians on-site 24/7 and highly trained labor, delivery, and pediatric nurses to ensure that mothers and babies receive the highest level of care at all times.
