Neuroscience Program
Neurosciences is a growing and much needed area of medicine for the local population in Ventura County and, particularly in the Oxnard and Camarillo areas. At St. John’s Hospitals, a team of specialists work together to manage care for a variety of conditions such as stroke, brain injuries, brain tumors, spinal disorders, epilepsy, and movement disorders. In Ventura County, Alzheimer’s and Cerebrovascular Disease rank in the top 10 leading causes of death.
As the St. John’s Neuroscience Program expands, there is a greater need for advanced resources, which will not only serve patients in the community, but will provide complex levels of care close to home without the need to travel great distances. At present St. John’s has the most advanced program in the county and is primed to continue this trend through philanthropic investment. Greater technology leads to recruiting and retaining top physicians and surgeons, thereby enabling more patients to remain in their local area for care. The ultimate goal is to establish a Comprehensive Neurosciences Center, which provides a one-stop-shop for all neurological healthcare needs.
